Homeowner planning rooftop solar needed clamp-compatible system; standing seam was the logical upgrade from a hail claim.
Full standing seam replacement paid largely by State Farm; solar clamps installed and ready for future panels.
About This Project
This Mueller homeowner had been planning rooftop solar for years β the deciding factor that pushed them from Class 4 shingles to standing seam. Clamp-based solar racking attaches to the raised seam ribs without drilling through the panel, preserving the roof warranty and making future panel installation faster and cheaper.
The roof also came out of an April 2024 hailstorm with significant damage to their existing 10-year-old architectural shingles. State Farm approved the full replacement scope, and the homeowner paid the upgrade difference to standing seam β roughly $8,000 above the shingle replacement value.
We specified Galvalume Steel in Charcoal finish β a neutral tone that satisfied the Mueller neighborhood architectural standards while complementing the home's modern aesthetic. Mueller's relatively progressive HOA had no issue with standing seam in this color.
